The budget app
blunt enough
to make you stop spending.

Other apps focus on you saving more. We focus on you spending less.

Stash the fox, wearing gold aviators, looking thoughtful
The character

Meet Stash.

A fox who reads your receipts, runs the math, and says the part you've been avoiding out loud. Brutally honest, somehow still likeable.

Three tones, your call

Pick how blunt
you want him.

Crank it up when you think you can take it.

Stash the fox reacting to your spending

"$312 on Uber?! That's a car payment, except you don't get a car. What are we doing here?"

How it works

Four moves.
Zero spreadsheets.

Most apps just show you what you already spent. Connect your bank once and every BLUNT screen turns into a decision instead.

Safe to Spend

One number.
That's the whole point.

Not last month's damage. What's safe to spend right now, after rent, bills, goals, and what you already blew. One number, updated live, no math at the register.

Safe to spend / today
$247.30

"You're fine. Don't blow it."

Tinder
for transactions.

Swipe right if we nailed the category, left if we blew it. After three swipes BLUNT learns the merchant and stops asking. A month of cleanup fits in one red light.

Live nudges

Caught
in the act.

Set a goal you actually care about, like a house down payment. The second you splurge, Stash pings you with what it really cost, not in dollars, but in how much further it just pushed the thing you said you wanted.

You just dropped $500 at Zara. That's a month of your down payment. Still want it?

Weekly Recap

Sunday
front page.

Every Sunday at 9am, your week lands like a newspaper cover. One headline, one stat, one verdict from Stash, with the receipts to back it up. Sixty seconds, then go enjoy your Sunday.

Setup

Two minutes
to set up.

No spreadsheets. No manual entry. No 45 minute setup wizard. Connect your bank, pick your roast level, set a goal, done.

Step 01 · Welcome

Step 02 · Pick tone

Step 03 · Connect bank

Step 04 · Set goal

That's the whole thing. Two minutes from email to "Stash is reading your receipts." If you can order takeout, you can do this. And we both know you can order takeout.

Trust + security

Your money.
Your data. Locked down.

We connect to your bank the same way Venmo, Robinhood, and Chime do. BLUNT never sees your bank credentials, and you can pull the plug any time, from inside the app or from your bank.

Plaid powered

The same bank connection behind Venmo, Robinhood, Coinbase, and Chime. We didn't roll our own security, and you should be glad.

AES-256 encryption

Every byte of your data is encrypted end to end, at rest and in transit. The same standard banks use internally.

Zero credentials stored

We never see your bank username or password. Plaid handles the handshake. All we get is a feed of your transactions. We can look, not touch.

Revoke any time

One tap inside BLUNT, or cut us off from your bank's side. Either way, we leave the moment you say so.

Common questions

The fine print,
without the print.

If your question isn't here, write to hello@blunt.app. A human answers, not a bot.

Is it really secure to connect my bank?
Yes. BLUNT uses Plaid, the same bank connection Venmo, Robinhood, and Chime use. We never see or store your bank credentials, and you can revoke access at any time from inside the app or from your bank's site.
When does it launch?
We're in private beta now, opening seats in waves. Waitlist members get first access, and it's free the whole time we're in beta.
How much will it cost?
It's completely free during the beta. Join the waitlist and you're in at no cost while we're building it out.
Will Stash actually swear at me?
Only if you ask him to. Three tones ship by default: light, medium, and full roast. He goes after the spending, not you. Mostly. You set the dial, so you only get the heat you signed up for.
iOS, Android, web?
iOS first at launch, Android right after, web app in the same window. Your data syncs across all of them.
Who is building this?
Three cofounders with backgrounds in product, design, and engineering. We got tired of budgeting apps that lied to us. So we built one that doesn't.
